New year new design

A new year calls for a new interior design and Shelbyville’s Design Destination has got you covered. Within a very walkable two square blocks you’ll find everything you need to create house/apartment/condo beautiful: flooring, wall coverings, appliances, antiques, artwork, furniture, home accessories, more.

Andriots Paint, Flooring, Blinds notes that top flooring trends right now are Coretec Luxury Vinyl Plank and Somerset hardwood made right here in Kentucky.

Have something else in mind? Not a problem in Shelbyville, where not only Andriots, but The Carpet Lady and Pontrich Flooring as well, offer an abundance of choices to freshen your décor.

Stacey Pettibone, owner of Stacey’s Simple Stuff, shares some of the home décor items and furnishings flying off her shelves: canvas prints, barn stars, willow pip trees and burlap items.

Pettibone started her business with a website in 2001 and making custom handcrafted rag rugs along with hand-sewn kitchen and dining accessories. She is a trained decorator as well as a floral designer.

“Apple themed décor has slowed down some on the favorite lists, but I feel it is still a good mix with farmhouse country décor,” she says.

On matters of home design trends, shoppers can also count on the expert guidance at Tracy’s Home Design and The Paisley Pig. Additionally, there are antique shops, including Reclaimed on Main and the galleries of Wakefield-Scearce.

So many design options, so little time – but in Shelbyville’s Design Destination, you can cover a lot of home interior ground in as little as a few steps down Main Street.
