It’s here! The 155th Shelby County Fair and Horse Show begins June 12

The 155th Shelby County Fair opens on Mon., June 12, bringing with it pageants, corn dogs, carnival rides, tractor pulls, truck drag races, donkey races, beautiful babies, funnel cakes, animal exhibits and more. Held at the Shelby County Fairgrounds, the fair includes the Shelby County Fair Horse Show that runs Wed., June 21, through Sat., June 24.

Each day is packed with activities, including such highlights as the Miss Shelby County Pageant, the Commonwealth Garden Tractor Pull and dirt bike drag races. Saturday has a full lineup of headlining activities, including the Baby Show, Open Beef Show, Car Show, Chainsaw Sculptures by Harley, a Bike Rodeo and Top Dog Demo Derby.

“This is the first time we’ve ever had chain saw sculptures,” said Carol Hance with the Shelby County Fair. “And the bike rodeo is also new and will take place in Floral Hall just for the kids.”

Throughout the fair, contests including Little Miss & Mister will take place, along with dairy, hog, sheep, rabbit and poultry shows. The exhibits of Floral Hall will be open for the first four day of the fair and the carnival rides will open on Tuesday and remain open through the duration of the fair.

“We have a full lineup of livestock shows, motor sports, pageants and more, and are anticipating large crowds each day,” said Hance. “Our County Fair Horse Show is gearing up to be the best one yet – and with good weather, this should be our largest fair in years.”

The Shelby County Fair closes June 17, but the excitement is far from over. On June 21-24, the Shelby County Fair Horse Show takes over the fairgrounds, bringing with it everything equine enthusiasts love: Five Gaited Amateur; Jr. Roadster Pony; Three Gaited Park Open; Amateur Harness Pony; Open English Pleasure; Saddle & Bridle Pl. Equitation Medallion; and a variety of other competitions.

The shows begin at 7 p.m. nightly with packed schedules on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. At 9 a.m. on Saturday, for the first time, the Shelby County Fair Horse Show will present Academy Classes.
