Kentucky Living readers choose Claudia Sanders Dinner House as a ‘Best in Kentucky’
SHELBYKY – AUGUST 24, 2017 – A restaurant opened in 1968 by Col. Harland Sanders – the famous founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken – and his wife, Claudia, has been acknowledged by readers of Kentucky Living magazine as having some of the most delicious fried chicken in Kentucky. The Claudia Sanders Dinner House, owned by Thomas and Cherry Settles, was among readers’ top three picks.
The annual contest, sponsored by the magazine, invites readers to select what they consider to be the very best in Kentucky in a number of categories, including best tourism attraction, family getaway, music festival, arts and crafts fair and more. All finalists were announced by magazine staff beginning at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 24, during a celebration at the Kentucky State Fair in Louisville. Detailed coverage will be featured in the magazine’s September issue.
Originally called The Colonel’s Lady, the family-style restaurant serves “old time cooking,” including fried chicken, sugar cured Kentucky country ham, country fried farm-raised catfish, the Kentucky Hot Brown, seasoned sides, homemade yeast rolls, Mom Blakeman’s Chess Pie, a decadent bread pudding smothered in a bourbon glaze sauce and more.
Published by the Kentucky Association of Electric Cooperatives, Kentucky Living is the largest-circulation publication in the state, with a readership of about 1 million readers and a circulation of more than 475,000 homes and businesses. The “Best In Kentucky” coverage is among the magazine’s most highly anticipated features.
