We are film ready

How can shooting here save money?

Shelbyville/Simpsonville/ Shelby County is a rural community with most locations within walking distance or a short drive of our downtown area. Services are conveniently located and can be accessed within just a few minutes. The metro areas of Lexington and Louisville are both less than an hour away and can provide additional production needs. Additionally, lodging, gas and food are generally more cost efficient than our larger cities.

Location

Once a wilderness between Louisville and Frankfort, Shelbyville was founded in 1792 and had a population of 262 by 1800. By the time the Civil War arrived, Shelbyville had a few thousand residents-many of them fought valiantly when the town’s courthouse was attacked by confederate soldiers. The turn-of-the-19th century saw a building boom, with an architecturally beautiful downtown, a legacy of the era. Through it all, Shelbyville retained its small-town atmosphere- a friendly place to get away from it all and a place to get anywhere you need to go. Now known as the American Saddlebred Capital of the World, due to its 80+ Saddlebred farms, Shelbyville is home to eclectic shops, destination dining and agritourism tours.

Weather

What’s the weather like in Shelbyville/Simpsonville/ Shelby County: We enjoy four distinct seasons, with none being too extreme. We do have some hot and muggy days in the summer, but they are tempered with frequent cold fronts that bring a little rain and cool breezes. The autumn is a favorite for most, as our spectacular show of fall colors rivals any in the country. Our winters tend to come a little later in the year, with snow around January or February. The roads are always quickly maintained and fluctuating temperatures can cause a quick melt-off. Spring is when you can witness real Kentucky bluegrass! When the morning sun rises and hits the dew, a deep blue hue appears. It’s something you’ll never forget.
