Bulleit Distilling Co. and Diageo Americas to Build Visitor Center in Shelbyville, KY
Bulleit Distilling Co. and Diageo Americas are pleased to announce they have received approval of an incentive package from the Kentucky Tourism Development Finance Authority. The package allows the companies to take the next step toward building a Visitor Center at the new Bulleit Distilling Co. in Shelbyville, KY.
“We thank the Kentucky Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet for their assistance through the process,” stated a representative of Diageo. “We also thank the people and leadership of Shelby County, especially County Judge-Executive Dan Ison and State Sen. Paul Hornback, for their continued support of the distillery.”
“We are thrilled that the Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet found esteem in passing the incentive package for the Bulleit/Diageo Visitor Experience,” said Katie E. Fussenegger, executive director of the ShelbyKY Tourism Commission & Visitors Bureau. “When Bulleit first considered ShelbyKY for its home, we hoped that a day like this would be in the future and we cannot wait to welcome them into our Tourism Family!
“We are honored they have chosen Shelby County and see a bright future ahead.”

The $115 million Bulleit Distilling Co. opened a 300-acre campus in Shelbyville in March, 2017. The facility includes four barrel houses, each capable of holding 55,000 barrels, a 52-foot still crafted by Vendome Copper and Brass Works in Louisville, and the first industrial solar array in Shelby County, which will collect enough energy to run all on-site mobile equipment. The campus is equipped with the latest technology in warehousing and distillation, including enhancements that help conserve and reuse resources, resulting in improved efficiency and less impact on the environment.
Ground breaking will take place in 2018 with construction estimated to take about a year. The new Visitor Center is expected to bring thousands of visitors to the community each year.
The Bulleit Distilling Co. became the second distillery to open in Shelby County, following the opening of Jeptha Creed Distillery in 2016, which has already garnered a reputation for its high-end heritage distilled spirits, Farm to Table Dinners and Friday night Jammin’ at Jeptha concerts. The Bulleit Distilling Co. Visitor Center will offer tours and a visitor experience when it opens.
